Food Hygiene and Safety in Catering Level 2

EU Regulation 852/2004 Hygiene for Foodstuffs requires food businesses to ensure that staff who handle food are supervised, instructed and trained in food hygiene and safety in a way that is appropriate to the work they do.

Food hygiene/safety training means that staff have an understanding of and are trained in recognising the conditions and measures necessary to ensure the safety of food from production to consumption.

This course is aimed at anyone who handles food and drink within a catering/ hospitality environment, including; restaurants, schools, colleges, fast food/takeaway outlet, luncheon clubs, bars, cafes, etc. Whether it be in a paid or unpaid (volunteer) position.

Lesson 1: Food hygiene, the Law and inspections 

Lesson 2: Food-Borne illness, allergens and contamination

Lesson 3: Food storage, preservation and temperature control

Lesson 4: Personal hygiene

Lesson 5: Premises, pests and cleaning

Lesson 6:  The principles of HACCP

CPD certified – Cost: £15 pp + VAT (£18)

Course duration: 12 months unlimited access to course materials

Place of study: On line distance learning course – learn anywhere, fully mobile – internet access required

Average time to complete: 2 hours

Assessment: Mini assessments at the end of each lesson, pass rate of 75% required

Certificate: Self print CPD certified certificate

Recognition: CPD certified by the CPD certification service

Formal accreditation option – Cost: £40 pp + VAT (£48)

Course duration: 12 months unlimited access to course materials

Place of study: On line distance learning course – learn anywhere, fully mobile – internet access required

Average time to complete: 4 hours

Assessment: Mini assessments at the end of each lesson, pass rate of 75% required. In addition learners must submit their learner file to their course tutor.

Certificate: Open College Network West Midlands certificate will be sent recorded delivery

Recognition: Formally accredited through Open College Network West Midlands -1 credit

Payment: Pay online

In house/classroom version – Cost: £550 (+VAT) + travel

Course duration: 1 day (6 hours) for up to 15 learners

Place of study: Venue of your choice

Support: Your trainer will answer any questions on the day, email support for the following week.

Assessment: Targeted questions throughout the day. If formal accreditation is requested learners will submit their learner file.

Certificate: CPD certificate on the day. If formal accreditation is requested the certificates take approx. 1 – 2 weeks.

Recognition: You can choose between CPD certified or a formally recognised accreditation (Formal accreditation incurs an additional cost of £20 pp)
