Lone working for staff

Do you have colleagues who can see and hear what you are doing and can respond to a request from you for support? If the answer is ‘no’, you are a lone worker and it is important that you are able to play your part in ensuring you operate in a safe and effective way.

This course is for all staff who regularly or periodically work alone and who need to develop an awareness of their safety both in and out of the office and the skills required to ensure it.

Lesson 1: Lone working legislation and responsibilities 

Lesson 2: How to undertake a risk assessment

Lesson 3: Personal safety

This lone working course focuses on:

  • Understanding what is meant by lone working
  • The key responsibilities that you and your employer have
  • Knowing the key features of your organisation’s protocols and procedures and the importance of ensuring compliance with them
  • Identifying potential risks and how these should be managed
  • Personal protection techniques to manage your safety
  • Knowing how to manage difficult situations.

Assessment: Mini assessments at the end of each lesson, pass rate of 75% required. In addition learners must submit their learner file to their course tutor.

Certificate: Open College Network West Midlands certificate will be sent recorded delivery

Recognition: Formally accredited through Open College Network West Midlands – 1 credit

Payment: Pay online

In house/classroom version – Cost: £450 (+VAT) + travel

Course duration: 1 day (6 hours) for up to 15 learners

Place of study: Venue of your choice

Support: Your trainer will answer any questions on the day, email support for the following week.

Assessment: Targeted questions throughout the day. If formal accreditation is requested learners will submit their learner file.

Certificate: CPD certificate on the day. If formal accreditation is requested the certificates take approx. 1 – 2 weeks.

Recognition: You can choose between CPD certified or a formally recognised accreditation (Formal accreditation incurs an additional cost of £20 pp)
