Sharps Awareness

Drug users and those with medical conditions may have sharps in their homes. In addition, sharps can be found in public areas., the risks are all around us. If you have staff visiting homes or out in public areas you have a duty of care to ensure their safety.

This sharps awareness course is for staff who may come in to contact with sharps as part of their job role, to ensure they are aware of the dangers and how to protect themselves and others.

Lesson 1: Health and safety responsibilities

Lesson 2: Sharp uses, risks and safe disposal

Lesson 3: What to do if you have a sharps injury

CPD certified – Cost: £15 pp +VAT (£18)

Course duration: 12 months unlimited access to course materials

Place of study: On line distance learning course – learn anywhere, fully mobile – internet access required

Support: Course trainer available to answer queries by email or our social media channels

Average time to complete: 1.5 hours

Assessment: Mini assessments at the end of each lesson, pass rate of 75% required

Certificate: Self print CPD certified certificate

Recognition: CPD certified by the CPD certification service

Payment: Pay online

Formal accreditation option – Cost: £40 pp +VAT (£48)

Course duration: 12 months unlimited access to course materials

Place of study: On line distance learning course – learn anywhere, fully mobile – internet access required

Support: Course trainer available to answer queries by email or our social media channels

Average time to complete: 2.5 hours

Assessment: Mini assessments at the end of each lesson, pass rate of 75% required. In addition learners must submit their learner file to their course tutor.

Certificate: Open College Network West Midlands certificate will be sent recorded delivery

Recognition: Formally accredited through Open College Network West Midlands – 1 credit

Payment: Pay online

In house/classroom version – Cost: £350 + travel

Course duration: 1/2 day (3.5 hours) for up to 15 learners

Place of study: Venue of your choice

Support: Your trainer will answer any questions on the day, email support for the following week.

Assessment: Targeted questions throughout the day. If formal accreditation is requested learners will submit their learner file.

Certificate: CPD certificate on the day. If formal accreditation is requested the certificates take approx. 1 – 2 weeks.

Recognition: You can choose between CPD certified or a formally recognised accreditation (Formal accreditation incurs an additional cost of £20 pp)
